FAQ’s
STRICT NO! NO!!
- Never use any Plaster of Paris on any composite surface, it will de-colour.
- Never use any textured marble or quartz on the floor, all textured surfaces become porous. If used on walls, the textured surface must be treated well with good sealers, we recommend Laticrete.
What is the lead time after placement of order?
For all composites lead time is 12 days, maximum.
What thickness is easily available in composite quartz?
Regular Composite quartz comes in 20 mm thickness. It can be supplied in 12 mm if the minimum order is 1000 sq. ft.
Where can we use composite marble?
Composite marble is good for flooring and wall cladding inside offices, homes, kitchens & bathrooms. It is highly recommended for use on bathroom walls, counters, floors, and kitchen floors.
Where can I get the adhesive / glue?
Please contact us.
Which adhesive / glue is needed to install for which surface?
It depends, please contact us for more.
What are the advantages of adding latex additive in place of water with the thin set adhesive?
The thin set mortar becomes more flexible, water resistant, stronger in bond & shear strength, resistant to thermal stresses and improved physical & chemical properties.
What is a thick bed?
Cement mortar bed applied to a thickness 25-50 mm and above.
When do I install a mortar bed?
a) When level is uneven
b) When slope must be created and provided
c) Tile/stone are not in thickness
What is Initial/Final set time for thin set adhesive?
Initial set –approx 2 Hours
Final set –approx 10-12 hours
How do I prepare walls & floors for a thin set application?
Level the surface to industry standard i.e. 3 mm in 10 Ft.
What is the proper procedure to install a tile/stone using a thin set adhesive?
a) Dampen the substrate prior to spreading the thin set mortar
b) Mix the thin set mortar with latex/water
c) Slake the mix for 5-10 min.
d) Spread the adhesive on the surface using the flat side of the trowel and then notch it with the notch end of the mortar
How do I decide the size of a notch trowel?
Following criteria should be applied while deciding the notch trowel size
a) For Tile/Stone size upto 300*300,use a 6mm*6mm notch trowel
b) For Tile/stone size upto 450*450,use a 6mm*9mm notch trowel
c) For Tile/stone size upto 600*600,use 12mm*12mm notch trowel for large tiles, rib, lug back tiles back butter
the tile/stone in addition to applying the adhesive on the surface.
What is a thin set?
Tile adhesive applied to a thickness of 3-12mm.
What substrates are suitable for installation of Tile/Stone?
Concrete, masonry, brick, cement blocks, plaster, Cement backer board, gypsum board, plywood, metal etc.
Do you undertake fixing/laying jobs?
No.
Where can we get samples and see all shades?
You can call us at any of the two mobile telephone numbers mentioned on our website, e-mail or visit our yard for samples. Our showroom, exclusively dedicated to composites is fully equipped and being appreciated by all.
Is re-polishing of composites bothersome or special?
Re-polishing can be done exactly as done on natural marble and granite, except that “0” (zero) number abrasive (batti) should not be used for re-polishing process. Rest of the abrasives (battis) can be used depending on the kind of polishing being undertaken: diamond or granite.
Can we use composites on the exterior walls exposed to sunlight, rain etc.?
Composite marble in light colour may be used on exterior walls. Dark colours are not advisable because the pigments are not UV protected. Composite quartz is not recommended for exteriors. However, textured composites can be used quite well. We can provide Graffiato (except on Quartz), Silken, Distress, Ruvido and Leather finish on all composites.
Is some extra care necessary for fixing the composites?
No, composites can and should be treated like natural stones; fixing, handling and maintenance is similar to natural stones.
How long does the polish last?
All slabs come pre-polished but after fixing if re-polishing is necessary, the life of the re-polished surface ranges from 3-5 years, depending on the traffic. Go for granite polish with Tin Oxide coating, it lasts the longer.
What thickness is easily available in composite marble?
Regular Composite marble comes in 18 mm thickness. It can however be supplied in 16 mm if the order is in multiples of 1600 sq. ft. Thinner slabs of 12 mm can also be supplied if the order is in multiples of 2000 sq. ft.
Is waterjet cutting possible on composites?
Yes.
Can we do inlay work on composites?
Yes, inlay work on composite marble is easy. In fact, because it is hard and not brittle, the edges cut very fine and inlay comes out very neat. However, we do not recommend using composite quartz for inlay work.
How easy is it to mould the edges of composites?
Moulding can be done easily. Composites are hard, not brittle, edges can be moulded and polished perfectly, that is why we recommend the same for counters and table tops. We have samples with different mouldings done; please ask to see the same when you visit us next. Remember to use a lot of water while moulding and rubbing.
Can composite quartz be polished after fixing?
Yes, although all slabs come pre-polished, but if required slabs can be re-polished easily. The glossiness/reflection on pre-polished quartz slabs is approx. 55-70%. After re-polishing the same gloss and sometimes better, can be achieved. Just make sure “0” (Zero) number abrasive (batti) is not used by the worker on the pre-polished slabs.
Can composite marble be polished after fixing?
Yes, although all slabs come pre-polished, but if required slabs can be re-polished easily. The glossiness/reflection on pre-polished marble slabs is approx. 75-85%. After re-polishing the same gloss and sometimes better, can be achieved. Just make sure “0” (Zero) number abrasive (batti) is not used by the worker on the pre-polished slabs.
Where can we use composite quartz?
Composite quartz can be used on floors with heavy traffic/footfalls and public utility areas. It is the best option for kitchen table tops due to resistance to heat, scratches and low porosity. It is also being used on walls of public conveniences due to its hardness and high abrasion resistance.
